International Women’s Day – The Evolution of Women in the Dental Industry – Meet Dr Alice – “Why I Became a Dentist”

At the beginning of March, we celebrated International Women’s Day and one area where women have made a massive difference over the past few decades is within the dental industry. Even just a short while ago, the number of male dentists use to outnumber women, but now the situation is reversing. Nowadays, you are just as likely to see a female dentist, and increasingly the principal dentist is a woman.

Dentistry can be the ideal career for women, offering them an opportunity to be creative and compassionate, providing excellent job satisfaction. Their capacity for empathy with their patients is an area where female dentists often excel. Also, they tend to be more willing to discuss dental problems with their patients a more caring way, and they frequently take greater care to reduce discomfort.

Here at Complete Dental, our lead dentist is Dr Alice Yang. As the daughter of a doctor, Dr Alice always knew she wanted to be in the medical profession, deciding on the dental industry. Dr Alice’s passion for dentistry stems from the ability to problem solve, helping patients with her gentle and compassionate manner. She thoroughly enjoys being able to communicate with her patients, ensuring all treatments are appropriately explained and gains immense satisfaction from helping people achieve a healthy, bright smile.
