Dentistry is an Increasingly Popular career Choice for Women

Regular visitors to Complete Dental will know they have just as much of an opportunity of being treated by a female dentist as by a male dentist, which in this day and age is as it should be. However, things were very different even a decade or so ago. With International Women’s Day being celebrated last month, we thought it would be interesting to look at why the dental profession is increasingly becoming more female oriented.

Why It Shouldn’t Be a Surprise

Dentistry is very much a caring profession, a factor that motivates many women to train for this career. One popular response when women are asked why they chose to become a dentist is because they wanted to make a difference, and often specifically to help people who feel nervous about dental visits. Both sexes would agree that dentistry can be incredibly rewarding at times, and especially when you help someone to overcome fears and phobias. There is nothing better than that moment when patients can smile for the first time, possibly in years, knowing they have excellent dental health and an attractive smile.

Although dentistry can be a demanding career, many female dentists have already discovered it’s possible to achieve an excellent worklife balance. They are bringing up families while pursuing a fulfilling career.
